British rock icons Skunk Anansie have unleashed their electrifying new single “Animal,” a dark, moody anthem with an instant-classic chorus that ignited crowds on their recent sold-out UK and European tour. The track, accompanied by a visceral performance video filmed by India Fleming and edited by Shea McChrystal, is the latest from their upcoming album The Painful Truth, set for release May 23, 2025, via FLG Records.
The Painful Truth, a provocative and powerful record, captures Skunk Anansie at their peak, confronting identity and ambition with raw honesty. The album, their first on FLG, reaffirms their status as a visionary force in British music. Frontwoman Skin calls “Animal” a tour favorite, thrilled for its release.
The band will headline The Independent’s stage at The Great Escape Festival on May 16, 2025, at The Old Market, spotlighting their legacy of tackling social issues and breaking barriers. A special album release show follows on May 23 near Bristol at Good Times at The Ridings, supported by Republica. This summer, Skunk Anansie will also join Smashing Pumpkins as special guests at London’s Gunnersbury Park (Aug 10) and Colchester Castle (Aug 14).
