Washington, D.C.’s metalcore veterans Age of Ruin are back with their new single “Heavy is the Crown,” the lead track from their upcoming album Nothingman, set for release on October 17, 2025, independently. The single, accompanied by a music video, is streaming now, with the track available on Spotify and Apple Music. As a bonus, the band has released a non-album B-side, “Holding On,” with a lyric video.
Formed in 1998, Age of Ruin—vocalist Benjamin Swan, guitarists Daniel Fleming and Jonathan Clay, bassist Christopher Fleming, and drummer Hendrik Osinga—has crafted a 10-track opus in Nothingman, produced by Mike Schleibaum (Darkest Hour) at The Riff Dojo. Recorded across Richmond’s Bakery Studio, D.C.’s Ivakota Studio, and Takoma Park’s Riff Dojo from October 2023 to July 2024, the album, mixed and mastered by Will Beasley, is their most ambitious yet, blending harmony and angst. Zack Dunn’s oil painting “Forest Mother” adorns the cover.
